What to Expect:  StoneRidge is located in the Northern Idaho resort community of Blanchard about 40 miles north of Coeur d'Alene. The course features attractive views of the surrounding mountains and is outlined by evergreen trees. The course doesn’t feel as claustrophobic as other Pacific Northwest properties that are so heavily treed that you pucker on every tee shot. In fact, StoneRidge feels rather open with the trees being spaced out and inviting. Soft elevation changes exist on the property with the largest descent occurring on the long downhill par three 8th hole. A $3 million dollar renovation in 2002 brought new life to the greens, ponds, and bunkers and added a 19th hole utilized to settle bets. StoneRidge is a member of Idaho’s Golf Trail which consists of fourteen of the state’s best public access courses and is divided into four different loops. While StoneRidge is a pleasant golf course in a beautiful setting and worthy to be included on the list, it wouldn’t be considered a destination course to build a trip around and is certainly in the lower tier of courses found on Idaho’s Golf Trail. (Disclaimer: I played StoneRidge a few years before putting the website together and my recollection isn't as fresh as other reviews)
