Signature Hole: 15th - 320 Yard Par 4 - This short, downhill hole demands the ability to execute your choice of shots. The hole sets up for most golfers to take a long iron or hybrid off the tee to a fair landing area. This shot requires a forced carry of 175 yards from the tips, but must come to rest short of the 250 yard mark. A second forced carry is required to reach the plateau-style green that is surrounded three sides by red rock desert and is fronted by a deep ravine. This ravine, and absence of a bail out area around the green cause anxious moments to those risk / reward enthusiasts who elect to take a driver off of the tee. Don't forget to take a post-card-worthy look back at this signature hole from the back tee box of hole #16.

What to Expect: The Ledges is a course that can be enjoyed by golfers of all skill levels. Wide, welcoming fairways are found on most of the par 4s and par 5s, resulting in confidence to all off of the tee. This confidence can be soon tested, though, as shot making becomes paramount when hitting into the characteristic table-top greens that typically penalize a miss to one side or the other. Most, though, provide a safe approach from straight on, allowing the a safe route to the bump-and-run style player. Many of the greens have large undulations resulting in limited, but varied pin placements. The Ledges should yield a memorable and enjoyable challenge to all.

Individual Hole Analysis
Best Par 3: Hole #12 is, without question, the best par 3 on the course. Playing along one of golf's most pictographic backdrops, the unintimidating 169 yards shown on the scorecard may lull you into a sense of false security. However, concentration and proper club choice will be necessary to find the putting surface, as desert lines the right side and a miss to the cut out, left side of the green will result in a testing up and down.

Best Par 4: Multiple candidates can be considered for this award. The finishing holes for both sides are worthy, demanding, and vaguely similar. Both are within 17 yards of each other and present water features that line the left side of the green and respective approach shots. However, their similar nature and with the 15th already having been mentioned as the course's signature hole, #14 takes the distinction as the best par 4 of the bunch. It aptly represents all the others by its unbelievably beautiful, panoramic, western view. Additionally, it demands a controlled tee shot, as greater length brings increasingly tighter landing areas. Length off the tee is paramount, however, as a wedge is coveted to a very neatly tucked, unforgiving yet spectacular green.

Best Par 5: The 600 yard 16th takes the honor of best par 5 on the course. Length, strategic bunkers, forced carries, and a split fairway all contribute to this accolade. Length, coupled with a visually daunting 210 yard forced carry off of the back tees to a narrow landing area, often into a headwind, can easily result in an over-swing and a resulting poor shot. Even a well-struck drive can find the menacing trap placed to the high side, and natural bail-out area, of the fairway. Halfway to the hole, the fairway splits into upper and lower routings - with the upper being the only path that leads all the way to the green, and by far the best angle for final approach.
Birdie Time: The Ledges, with its demanding table top greens and extreme undulations, places a greater premium on accurate approach shots than does the average course to have any chance at birdie. Hole #8 is no exception, but provides multiple options to get to the green. At only 372 yards from the tips and 318 from the whites, driving the green (or somewhere near it) is a possibility. Otherwise, a more conservative shot to a receptive landing area will almost always result in a short iron shot to the green. Either approach, properly executed, will provide the most consistent opportunity for birdie on the course.
Bogey Beware: Either of the par 3s measuring over 230 yards, or the 600 yard par 5 could result in the understandable bogey. However, the 456 yard par four 4th hole is the tester that requires a little bit of Harry Houdini or Tiger Woods to escape with a par. While, ball-eating sagebrush runs all the way down the left side, and strategically placed, ball-collecting bunkers lie in the landing zone on the right, the overall yardage, often played into a headwind, presents the most formidable challenge. And last , but certainly not least, this large, but the narrow green presents an excruciating approach on the course, (rivaled only by #14's), where the only safe paths are a high, holding shot to the green or one that runs up and on by way of a very narrow access directly in front of the putting surface.
